Florida Man Games return in 2026 in a new city, at a new venue. See when

The Florida Man Games—basically the Olympics for people who wrestle alligators and think hamster wheels are seaworthy vessels—returns February 2026 in Bradenton. Teams compete in beer belly sumo wrestling, evading arrest obstacle courses, and hurricane party prep grocery rumbles, because apparently this is what peak athletic performance looks like in the Sunshine State. Defending champions Team Hanky Spanky are ready to prove once again that Florida energy cannot be contained.

Why It's Weird

These are the stories that make you question whether reality has become deliberately surreal. While the weirdness score is more modest, the story still offers a fascinating glimpse into life's unexpected moments.

“Florida Man” isn't just a phrase that inspired TV shows from HBO and Netflix. It’s what we call the kind of person who would walk into the street barefoot to wrangle an alligator or attempt to cross the Atlantic Ocean in a giant hamster wheel.

In February 2024, a sort of Olympic games for people who consider themselves “Florida men” took place in St. Augustine, with teams of men competing in challenges like “beer belly sumo wrestling” and an “evading arrest obstacle course.” And in February 2026, the third annual Florida Man Games will be held at a new venue, in a new city.

Here's what we know about the 2026 Florida Man Games and a quick introduction to some of the events the games have hosted in the past.

The Florida Man Games is an event filled with events and challenges "inspired by the Florida man's infamously unique talents," according to its website.

The "irreverent competition" encourages "the state’s most unruly residents" to "serve as demigods of athletic prowess," in competitions like the "evading arrest obstacle course" or "beer belly sumo wrestling."

Teams of three to five Florida men (and Florida women) compete in a series of these Sunshine State-inspired events to win bragging rights and a championship belt. Team Hanky Spanky of St. Augustine are the defending champions and won the games in 2024 and 2025.

The only two main event challenges listed on the Florida Man Games website for the 2026 games are the "evading arrest obstacle course" and the "hurricane party prep: grocery aisle rumble."

Here's a list of events and entertainment that were featured in the 2025 games:

The 2024 inaugural Florida Man Games were held at Francis Field in downtown St. Augustine on Saturday, February 24. In 2025, the games were held nearby at the St. Johns County Fairgrounds.

This year, the games are moving clear across the state, to the Freedom Factory in Bradenton, Florida. The games will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026. Gates open at 9 a.m. and the event is expected to end around 6 p.m.

Presale general admission tickets are $40 until Feb. 14, 2026, at which point, they are expected to rise in cost by $10. General Admission includes grandstand seating and infield access.

VIP tickets start at $120, with seating closer to the action and access to exclusive areas at the games. RV and camping passes cost between $100 and $150.

You can buy tickets through the Florida Man Games website.

Cowboys, lassos, and nudity: AI startups turn to stunts for attention in a crowded market

AI startups are getting so desperate for attention that one hired a cowboy to literally lasso Wall Street's bull while handing out branded stress balls. Another CEO stripped to gym shorts onstage to demonstrate that big AI models are "naked" and need better protection. With 90,000 AI companies worldwide all promising to automate your lunch order, apparently the only way to stand out is full-blown corporate performance art.

Norwegian Company Offers Free GTA 6 to Babies Born on Launch Day in Wildest Marketing Stunt Yet

A Norwegian electronics retailer has promised free copies of GTA 6 to any parents whose baby arrives exactly on the game launch date — November 19th. Komplett apparently thinks timing your pregnancy around a video game release is excellent family planning. Their cheeky Instagram campaign encourages couples to "start the mission" now for a November payoff, seemingly oblivious to the cosmic irony of giving new parents a time-consuming game when they will have zero time to play it. One Reddit user summed it up perfectly: getting a newborn and a new GTA on the same day is like winning the lottery and losing the ticket simultaneously.

Watch: Serial underwear thief at New Zealand school identified as cat

A New Zealand school spent over a year hunting for a mysterious thief stealing towels, shoes, and underwear from their pool area. Security cameras finally caught the culprit in action: a black cat dragging a towel across the playground with a secret stash hidden behind the PE shed. The school is now calling their feline felon "Slinky Malinki" and planning to write stories about their very own cat burglar.

Olympic ski jumpers cause "Crotch-Gate" controversy with aerodynamic underwear modifications

Norwegian ski jumpers sparked "Crotch-Gate" at the 2026 Olympics by adding extra fabric to their uniforms for better aerodynamics. The modification could add up to 3 meters to their jumps, prompting officials to ban the enhancement and furious competitors to call it "doping with a different needle."
