Who we are

Oddly Enough (“we”, “our”, “us”) operates the website oddlyenough.news and the Oddly Enough mobile app. We curate weird, bizarre, and wonderfully strange news stories from around the internet.

What data we collect

Information you provide

  • Email address — only if you subscribe to our newsletter

Information collected automatically

  • Bookmarks — stored locally in your browser (localStorage). We never see or collect this data.
  • Emoji reactions — when you react to an article, we store a random visitor ID (generated locally) and your reaction. No personal information is attached.
  • Usage analytics — we may use privacy-friendly analytics to understand page views and popular content. No personal data is tracked.

Advertising

We display advertisements from third-party ad networks including Google AdSense and Google AdMob (in our mobile app). These services may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website or other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.

Cookies

We use minimal cookies. Third-party services (such as advertising networks and analytics providers) may set their own cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Third-party content

Our articles link to and summarise content from third-party news sources. When you click through to a source website, their own privacy policy applies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external sites.

Data storage

Our website is hosted on Vercel. Article data is stored in Supabase (hosted in the EU). Newsletter subscriptions are managed by Beehiiv. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Your rights

Under GDPR and UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Withdraw consent for newsletter emails at any time (unsubscribe link in every email)
  • Object to processing of your data
  • Lodge a complaint with the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office)

Children's privacy

Our service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
