โAn escaped ostrich turned a stretch of Ohio roadway into its personal runway last week, prompting the Madison County Sheriff's Office to issue a formal public advisory asking drivers to watch out for the large flightless bird roaming near local roads. The creature โ which can sprint at 45 miles per hour and stands over six feet tall โ posed a legitimate traffic hazard, though neither bird nor drivers were reported harmed. Exactly how it got loose remains the kind of question that presumably involves an embarrassed owner somewhere.โ

Why It's Weird
These are the stories that make you question whether reality has become deliberately surreal. While the weirdness score is more modest, the story still offers a fascinating glimpse into life's unexpected moments.
March 24 (UPI) -- Authorities in Ohio urged residents to use caution when an escaped ostrich was spotted running loose near a pair of roads.
The Madison County Sheriff's Office said on social media that the ostrich was seen Monday in the area of Lafayette Plain City Road and Taylor Blair Road in Monroe Township.
Drivers were urged to use caution in the area to prevent injuries to humans and giant birds alike.
The sheriff's office later updated the post to report the ostrich had been safely captured and returned to its owner.
