Why It's Weird

Some stories exist in a category all their own, defying easy explanation or categorization. While the weirdness score is more modest, the story still offers a fascinating glimpse into life's unexpected moments.

April 21 (UPI) -- A llama and two pygmy goats escaped from a farm in Scotland and blocked traffic on a busy highway before being safely returned home.

Kevin McVey, owner of Overtoun Llama Lodges in Dumbarton, said he was visiting a medical facility in Bishopton with some of his animals when a llama named Noah got up to mischief at home.

McVey said one set of gates had been left open, but Noah still had to vault over a tall fence to escape.

"Llamas can jump six feet, so he's cleared them no problem," McVey told the BBC.

A pair of pygmy goats named Penny and Tuppence refused to be left behind.

"Penny and Tuppence the pygmy goats are Noah's besties and they go everywhere together. They must have managed to get through a hole somewhere," he told the Daily Record.

The trio made their way to the A82 highway, where they were caught on video blocking traffic.

McVey was alerted to the situation and rushed to the scene to retrieve his animals.

"It's just like a big dog -- you shout on him and shake a bucket of food and he comes running," he said of Noah.

McVey said he was able to leash all of the animals and return them home safely.

A Brazilian rainbow boa constrictor named Ronaldo โ€” originally thought to be male โ€” has pulled off a second virgin birth at a Portsmouth college, producing 12 snakelets without ever having a mate. Dog with stainless steel kettle stuck around his neck rescued in India

A street dog in India spent more than four years wandering around with a broken stainless steel kettle lodged around his neck before rescuers finally caught him, removed the jagged metal collar, and sent him home with a new name: Chala, meaning resilient. Animal welfare workers had to tranquilize the poor pup just to get close enough to help, proving once again that humans create the messes and animals somehow endure them.
