Pakistani Athlete Breaks His Own World Record for Thumb Push-Ups With One Leg Raised โ€” For the Third Time

โ€œA Pakistani athlete has broken his own Guinness World Record for most thumb push-ups with one leg raised in one minute โ€” for the third time, hitting 66 reps in 60 seconds. Muhammad Arshad from Vehari, Pakistan balances his entire body weight on just his thumbs while keeping one leg bent at a strict 90-degree angle throughout. The man literally keeps setting his own bar higher just to clear it himself.โ€

Why It's Weird

Some stories exist in a category all their own, defying easy explanation or categorization. While the weirdness score is more modest, the story still offers a fascinating glimpse into life's unexpected moments.

The chance to break a world record could be at your finger tips โ€“ literally!

In just 60 seconds, Muhammad Arshad (Pakistan), a certified athlete, pushed himself off the floor with just his thumbs 66 times, earning himself a Guinness World Records title for the most thumb push-ups with one leg raised in one minute on 4 May.

Muhammad is a multi-record holder, winning over 14 Guinness World Records titles in the past across various strength-based categories. And this is his third time breaking this record! His latest achievement has become a source of pride for his family and an inspiration for his community.

The athleteโ€™s interest in strength training and endurance started from a young age. However, growing up in a small village in Vehari, Pakistan, even basic sport facilities were very limited. But that never discouraged him. Muhammad was determined to improve himself no matter the circumstances โ€“ so he started training at home with bodyweight, where push-ups played a key role.

โ€œThumb push-ups are one of the most difficult and rare exercises, requiring exceptional strength, balance, and mental toughness,โ€ he said. โ€œThis uniqueness is what drew me toward them.โ€

Preparing for such a demanding attempt tested him both physically and mentally! The attempt required him to balance on his thumbs while performing push-ups, with one leg bent at a strict 90-degree angle in the air. Muhammad says the toughest part of his preparation was to maintain balance despite exhaustion, while keeping up with the time guidelines.

โ€œTime is limited, the body becomes exhausted, yet maintaining balance and meeting the strict 90-degree bend requirement is extremely challenging,โ€ he said. โ€œEven a small mistake can invalidate the entire attempt.โ€

Muhammad said his primary message for all his achieved records is that strong intentions can overcome limited resources, and he hopes his journey will become a source of motivation for young people in Pakistan.

โ€œI hope the world can witness these unique challenges live and see that with dedication, hard work, and determination, it is possible to achieve global recognition even with limited resources!โ€ Muhammad said with hope.

He described breaking the record as "a moment of immense pride and happiness" for him, adding that his determination, hard work and faith had seen him through.

Texas Town Called Bug Tussle Has Lost Over 70 Street Signs to Thieves Who Want Them as Souvenirs

Bug Tussle, a Texas town of fifteen people, has had more than seventy street signs stolen by souvenir hunters who can't resist the name โ€” and the Department of Transportation has finally stopped replacing them. The residents are proud of the name anyway, which may or may not have originated at an insect-ruined church ice cream social.

Boston Has Installed a Bright Yellow Pay Phone That Only Calls One Place: a Senior Housing Complex in Nevada

A biotech company has planted a bright yellow payphone in Brookline, Massachusetts that does exactly one thing: call the lobby of a senior housing complex in Reno, Nevada. No keypad, no buttons โ€” just pick up and chat with a stranger three time zones away. The experiment targets what the company calls two of America's loneliest demographic groups: young adults and older adults.

LA Metro Lost & Found Has a Prosthetic Leg, Blowtorches, and a 55-Inch TV โ€” People Leave 15,000 Items Behind Per Year

The Los Angeles Metro quietly warehouses about 15,000 lost items every year โ€” and while the usual suspects (phones, backpacks, glasses) pile up daily, the collection has grown to include a prosthetic leg, a 55-inch TV, blowtorches, industrial electrical generators, and a full case of VHS tapes. Only 30% of items ever find their way home.
